Gillman Speedway Classic meeting cancelled
Gillman Media 25 October 2025
If the poor farmers crying out for rain want help they just need to build a speedway in the back paddock.
That seems to guarantee rain.
After a couple of very nice days in Adelaide, and a warm morning with blue skies today, the forecast wild weather hit at about 2.45pm and heavy rain fell for the next hour and has done enough damage to the track surface to cause the cancellation of tonight’s classic meeting at Gillman Speedway.
A permit extension was available to run the meeting tomorrow if need be, but the weather forecast is just as bad and it is unlikely the track can be repaired in time anyway, so the meeting is off altogether for this weekend but the club is looking to reschedule later in the year.
So now, attention turns to the opening summer meeting in a fortnight’s time, on Saturday 8 November. Early nominations are good with Reid Battye, Beau Bailey, Alex Adamson and Lachlan Russell (all NSW), Ben Whalley and Jake Turner (Vic), and local rider Harry Sadler the early Solo nominations, and Taylor Green (NZ), Kym Menadue, Jason Mordaunt, Justin Plaisted, Josh Pascoe and Shane Rudloff the first of the Sidecar nominations.
Fans are reminded the nominations are published on the Gillman Speedway website daily for every meeting.
