Speedway season drawing to a close - February 2014
February 13, 2014 by Gillman Media
The 2013/14 speedway season is drawing to a close and patrons have just three more chances to see any action at Adelaide’s Gillman Speedway.
Two of the remaining meetings will be Blackchrome Sidecar Grand Slam events, round 5 on Saturday, 22 February, and the series grand final a month later on 22 March.
Sandwiched between the two Grand Slam meetings will be a new event for Gillman, the President’s Cup for Solos and Sidecars.
Gillman manager David Parker is hoping the Solo Cup will attract some of the up-and-coming riders from around Australia.
“The meeting is on 8 March and by that time all the riders who are racing in Europe this year will have left Australia so it is the prefect chance for the next level of riders to get some interstate experience. We’ve had some very good young riders appear at Gillman already this season and I’m hopeful the more ambitious ones will be up for this meeting. We’d expect lads like Jack Fallon and Brodie Waters to nominate, they’ve shown many times this season they are willing to travel for rides to try to improve themselves, but we’d also like to see lads like Jack Holder, Hunter Anderson, Tyler King and Jye Etheridge from New South Wales, and Tyson Snow and Matt Day from Queensland back again.”
In the meantime Parker has already set out the dates for next season and they will be on the Gillman website later this week along with details of a new online nomination process the track will be using next season.
