Czech star Jan Kvech confirmed for Ikon Suspension International Speedway Masters
Power Production Media Release 1 August 2024
In breaking news, the Czech Republic’s SGP star Jan Kvech, has been contracted to contest the Ikon Suspension International Speedway Masters, at Gillman Speedway in Adelaide, adding yet another world class star to what is shaping as a highly impressive rider line-up.
The twenty two year old, from Strakonice, located 170 kilometres from Prague, is the first full-time SGP rider from the Czech Republic, since compatriot Lukas Dryml raced in the 2008 World Championship Series.
Jan Kvech was runner-up in the 2022 World Under 21 Championship and a two-time winner of the European Championship in 2019 and 2020.
In addition to contesting the elite 2024 SGP Series, Kvech has league racing contracts in Poland, with Zielona Góra, and England, riding for King’s Lynn.
“Landing Jan Kvech’s signature is a big coup for the ISM24,” says event organiser David Tapp.
“Jan has shown great speed in his maiden SGP season and race fans attending the Leigh Adams Medal, on December 28 at Gillman, will enjoy his cavalier approach to racing. He’s a real goer and is certain to be one of the top boys on the wide open spaces that the Adelaide track provides.
“I would like to acknowledge the help I’ve received from Jan’s advisor, Filip Sitera, a former top flight Czech international rider, in his own right, for assisting in putting the deal together.
“Filip is coming to Australia to assist Jan and I’m very grateful for this professionalism and help in getting this arrangement finalised.
“I also acknowledge the support provided by Ryan Sedgmen, from the Mildura Motorcycle Club, for his input and assistance.”
Kvech will also contest the Phil Crump Solo Classic at Olympic Park Speedway, Mildura, on December 29, in addition to his Gillman commitments on December 28.
Jan Kvech (Czech) joins Jamon Lidsey (Vic), Jason Doyle (NSW), Luke Becker (USA), Sam Hagon (GB), Chris Holder (NSW) and Fraser Bowes (SA), as the solo riders announced thus far, to contest night two of the ISM24.
